Something in a fanzine was created during inkJam 2021, which was also my very first jam. It is a sweet wee piece about poetry, community and the desire for our boundaries to be respected.

In Something in a fanzine, we play as Will, the probably-too-extrovert friend of a contributor to the school fanzine who calls themselves Something. Something just stormed out of a conversation, and for the first time, Will looks for answers inside the zine they left behind, and comes closer to understanding the needs of his friend.
We wanted the game itself to literally feel like a 90s’ fanzine, one specifically dedicated to introverts. So, on top of the playable content, I wrote articles and poetry by several fictional contributors, each with their own particularities, and tried to delve into most teenagers preoccupations with this particular angle in mind. At the end of the game, Will finds out the location of an all-introverts exclusive party, and is presented with the choice to join and embrace his own introversion, or to give Something space until they recharged enough to socially interact again.
